Course summary
A public health intervention is any effort or policy that attempts to prevent mental and physical health illness in a community. Examples of this range from the NHS Cervical Screening Programme through to Workplace wellbeing programmes. Interventions such as these can have positive impact improving health. Interventions can help reduce costs caused by illness and improve the social lives of community.
This one day course has been designed to help you to learn, reflect and develop ideas and strategies for better decision making relating to the delivery of public health solutions. You will also understand the importance of working with external organisations in order to deliver solutions that will make the changes that you want to see.
You will look at the different elements that can impact people’s health and how this will affect the type of solutions you will use. The course will also encourage you to look back at the work you have done and reflect on what has worked and how you can improve on the delivery of your next project.
The day will be delivered by an experienced public health professional who will lead you through the topic, with discussions and exercises designed to help you understand the theory and how it can be applied in your work/study area.
